Looking at the pictures you guys posted makes me want to post some too, but I don't think you guys would be as impressed with my pictures of molecules or bacteria... hahahah. I have some pictures of my school and dorm - not super exciting, but maybe I will post them when finals are over.
Yea.. some crazy hectic couple of weeks coming up.. I'm sure for you guys too with finals & everything. We'll get through it guys! :D And then any major plans for Winter Break? Let's pick a day and hang out, just the 3 of us. Maybe in January to avoid the busy holiday events? Any ideas? :)

That's so cool!
Amanda
So the prodigal Faja returns. That's some cool stuff you got going on there. You've inspired me to post pictures of what I've been up to. However, the blog is not cooperating. I'll post pictures soon.
Oh, Holly, I'll send you a text version of our worksheet over the course of this week I guess. I didn't go to church today because I really needed the rest. Hope it went well. How was Christmasing rehearsal?

THIS SUCKS
Amanda
Not only have these past 3 weeks sucked, next semester is also going to suck. The ONE CLASS I wanted to take oh so badly was so close within my reach! I checked the bulletin and nothing conflicted. Now I check again two weeks later and the Music department is offering a class that is only offered every other SPRING. Not semester -- SPRING!
I'm not sure why God is closing the door on this. I really needed that class so that I wasn't burnt out with music and useless GEs. I can't even describe how disappointed I am. I even contacted the teacher and everything. The other bad thing is that I convinced my friend to sign up for the class with me and now I'm not sure what she's going to do.
I'm still going to be taking 20 units next semester. If they had offered "The Voice" and textiles at non-conflicting times I would have sacrificed and taken 23 units. And now I don't even have the option.
I'm going crazy.
And I have a cold.

Huh?
Daja
I'm confused about all the sunday school assignments..... what the heck? And I thought we already turned in our testimony like over the summer. Augh... I hope you're not too busy this week; I think I'm gonna call you today or sometime this week maja.

Happy Harvestfest :)
Daja
Yesterday, our school has the annual Safe-trick-or-treat night on campus so a mass of little kids from the neighborhood came to our campus and lined up for candy and played games and stuff on the grass lawn. I wish I had my camera! As I was walking to lab, a mom was walking with her little girl in a pink princess dress and the sun was shining just right.. it would've been perfect. I have a lot of those I-wish-I-had-my-camera moments. And this is pretty funny - my tutee called this morning to cancel our tutoring session today because according to her, both her parents are sick and can't drive her to the center. I'm thinking she just wants to go trick-or-treating and didn't want to hurt my feelings. Hahah. Or maybe she's telling the truth. Either way, it was just funny as I thought about it after I hung up with her.
Tonight, I had a pretty delicious dinner - best steak they ever cooked since I've been at UOP! And then later tonight, I'll be going to my small group/bible study halloween get-together. I'm relieved that the insanity has finally come to a halt for now so I am finally getting a chance to relax. I thought I was done with exams last week but my o-chem lab TA surprised us on Monday - major lab quiz on Wednesday (today). So I had to study AND finish filling out my application. Good thing I finished the major stuff over the weekend. But it's over now and yes, I'm finally done with my application :) And I'm so sure you will pull through this storm too. There's a time to rest and a time to work.. and then there will soon be a time to rest and hang out with your extended family over break! :D
I hope your week goes smoothly. How are devotions lately? I've been reading about David and some of the psalms he wrote through his trials. It's definitely more interesting when it links certain psalms back to particular events in his life and I understand why he says some of the things he does or what he is referring to in them.
So let me know how your week goes... I won't be there on Friday because I have to stay and take the writing sample Saturday morning, but I will be driving back after lunch so I will talk to you on Sunday!

Gah! I'm sinking!
Amanda
So, I guess all the work I put off is finally catching up to me. I can't wait for the semester's end! Or can I? So many papers to write. So many songs to memorize and perfect. Guh. I'm sinking.
Anyway, I hope your week is going ok so far. I'll check in later in the week to see if you've posted.
Be good.

An optimistic note
Daja
So I just wanted to share this because it meant something to me this week. It reminded me to just do what I need to do and not let other people's judgement and thoughts get to me and make me do otherwise. By the way, I did not write this and I hope it's not cheesy-sounding :P I will write a real post this coming week.
People are often non-reliable, illogical and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are successful,
You will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank,
People may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.
When you spend years building,
Someone may destroy overnight;
Build anyway.
The good you do today,
People will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have
And it may just not be enough;
Give the world the best you have anyway.
You see, in the final analysis,
It is all between you and God.
It was never between you and them
Anyway.

It's Almost Over
Amanda
The past two weeks have been absolutely torturous. Too many tests, not enough time to relax = ultimate grumpy me. Tomorrow is going to be my final thing: my informative speech. I've practiced it loads of times and it's about knitting so it shouldn't be too hard. I just feel like taking a giant nap for the rest of the fall/winter. Wake me when it's spring.
Have you been doing anything creative lately? I've been knitting whenever I can cause it's a huge stress reliever. The cardigan is coming along nicely. I'll post pictures when I get the chance.
I guess that's all for now. I wonder when Kathy is finally going to post...

Daja: I'm coming home tomorrow!
Amanda, I hope you're feeling much better this week! How did your exams go?
This week has been really busy, mostly with lab work, but God has been really good to me -classes have been cancelled left and right and I just got out early from my class just now :) AND.. I'm happy because we get Friday off for an early Columbus Day instead of Monday. This means I'm coming home tomorrow night! YES! But I'm driving everyone back because jj's car wouldn't start after he stopped at my house Sunday night (so I had to drive everyone up this past Sunday too). Ack, I still haven't touched my application this week though - erg. Hopefully on Friday!
And finally Kathy's name appears :D Tell us how it's been settling in at UCD again..... hope to see you back soooooon!

The news for this week..
Much more relaxed this week after my week of exams last week - yay. They went relatively well.
It's Wilson's birthday this Friday. I realized we haven't been doing the birthday once a month thing at fellowship.. and I was talking to Joylynn and we agreed that if we continue it, we should figure out a better plan because cakes are expensive and it doesn't quite seem right to make everyone chip in. What do you think? And any ideas for this Friday or would that be unfair for all the other September people?
And... are you still planning to burn me Nothing is Sound when you have time? :)

OH MY GOODNESS
Where was I this time?
Thank God you're ok. I guess we were wrong about it being a streak while you're with me. Is it going to be more ventilated from now on? How are you going to prevent it from happening again? Are there no windows in your lab?! Awful. I'm in full protective Maja mode now. Was it a water issue or just super hot and stuffy? Bleh.
Yeah, I'm glad to hear the concert went well. Haha. Clarinets got excited.
Hope you feel better!

Back at School...

It's ok, I'm just glad to hear that you're feeling better. I was worried when I didn't see you go up for anthem. The concert went very well.. we sounded much better than I expected. We had just the right amount of anxiety to keep us on our toes. There were a few spots where the clarinets got a little too excited, but otherwise, it went quite smoothly. We played a few contemporary Christian pieces (Let Us Praise the Almighty - opening, Cornerstone, To God Be the Glory, We Are an Offering, and Crown Him with Many Crowns), Winston sang Pillar of Fire while we played in the background, and there were 2 medleys (Wizard of Oz - my favorite, and TV Time - medley of TV theme songs, like I Love Lucy, Brady Bunch, Happy Days, etc), and the last piece was a classical piece (Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik). The songs are not all in that order though.. it was nicely spaced out.
Soooo.. it was a nice weekend. But I had to come back to school.. and I was hoping it won't be so bad. Well. We had our first day of O-chem lab this afternoon and it was so hot and stuffy in that lab. Have an idea what came next? Yeaaa. Dizziness hit me and I didn't make it out the door before I fainted. Luckily (as I found out later), someone caught me before I hit the floor. I guess it wasn't completely embarrassing, but still awkward. They put me on a couch outside the lab and I sat for awhile and a junior working at the supply room brought me some water and kept me company. Went back to lab after maybe 15 minutes and fortunately, I was able to finish the lab before it ended and actually wasn't the last person there. Sigh.. I hope O-chem lab's not going to be miserable this semester.. it doesn't help that I don't really know people in my lab very well. Bah. Pray that I won't faint again, especially not in a room as dangerous as the O-chem lab. Eeek.
Umm, is it Friday yet? :(

Strange Sunday
Amanda
I don't know what exactly came over me but it was weird. After taking two long naps at home, I finally felt like myself again. I was disappointed I didn't get to see you play in the concert. How did it go by the way? What pieces did you play? I'm sorry I didn't get to support you. I was really planning on attending.
Anyway, I'm having more and more MMS woes. The guy actually called me at like 10 last night and left a voicemail because I didn't pick up. Ugh, so old and so lonely. I hope I don't end up like that. Anyway, everything is just so crazy right now.
I'm still working on my cabled bag. I'll post pictures when I get the chance.

I've just invited Kathy... again... I have no idea why the email didn't reach her. So, this week has been another week of adjustments. I just sent in my petition to take 20 units this semester. I know they'll grant it, it's just a matter of them approving it before my permit numbers expire. In other news, I've sold my old camera and upgraded.
Things I've made this week: I've made a new camera case (since I sold my old case with my old camera). I wanted to work on a cabled bag BUT the yarn kept tangling. I spend literally an hour last night trying to sort it all out. It's still tangled.
Anyway, tomorrow is Friday! Yay! I'm so tired and ready for the weekend.

The Daja writes...
Where is faja?
And how was Labor day weekend? Mine was clearly uneventful.. and I found out I'm taking care of 4th and 5th graders by myself at KC this year. Emily was put with Sophia for preschoolers..... erg. I guess they figured I could handle 3 kids (so far anyway) by myself, but it's nice to have a partner so I don't have to be doing lesson every week.
And Amanda, you haven't really told me how Sunday School went last Sunday.. I heard you had 5th graders :) And I have 2nd grade with Helen.. do you remember Sunday school/worship with her?? I was pretty scared of her as a kid and now I'm working with her. Hmm.
Ooo! And Amanda, let me know if you have a concert or know of a good one at SF state coming up soon (preferably for free and on a Friday/Saturday) because I need to go to a few for my Music Appreciation class :) And if I can, I'm planning to write one on the orchestra concert at church this weekend... hahah... you guys should come if you're free. It's 2-3:30ish. The repertoire is actually pretty fun. But I won't be hurt if you guys are busy :)
Hope your week has been going well! See you guys Friday.
